The defining component was invented in the early 1980s by Scottish architect Donald Macdonald, the original “bio bricks”, to explore the properties of flexible three dimensional structures. In the mid 1990s his son Euan Macdonald resurrected the concept and co-developed it to create the fundamental components for what was the ATOLLO System. The original parts were also manufactured in Scotland.
